Informational Meetings

Many of the colleges and majors offer informational meetings so you can learn more about the academic program and the ICT or application process. Certain majors actually prefer that you attend an informational meeting before attempting to meet with an advisor one-on-one.  The following colleges/departments offer informational meetings.  This list will be updated regularly as dates are added.

Applied Health Sciences

The College of Business will be holding information meetings during the week of Sept. 30.  The meetings will last between 30 and 45 minutes and are not mandatory for students who are interested in transferring into the College of Business.

School of Chemical Sciences

Thinking about transferring into the School of Chemical Sciences?

It is necessary that all interested students attend an ICT interest meeting to learn about the following programs:

  • Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
  • Specialized Chemistry
  • Chemistry Sciences and Letters
  • Computer Science and Chemistry

The SCS advising team will present information on each program, curriculum, ICT criteria, career opportunities, and the process of declaring each program. Interested students should only attend one session as all of the meetings are identical.

College of Education

The College of Education will be holding Informational Sessions for students that wish to transfer into the College of Education. Please encourage your students to attend one of our informational sessions if they have questions about the application process to the majors of Elementary Education, Early Childhood or Special Education. Attending a session is the BEST way for students to get all their questions answered by an academic advisor.

The informational sessions will be held every Tuesday of the Fall semester 4-5pm Education building room 210A.

Global Studies

Prior to declaring the major, students must attend an information session. Information sessions are held frequently throughout the semester, and especially during change of major periods. During the information session, students can submit the paperwork to officially change or add the major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Once a student has attended an Information Session, he/she is welcome to schedule an individual appointment with an advisor.

The deadline to apply to any of the majors within the College of Media for Spring 2014 is September 26, 2013 by 3pm.

During the meeting an academic advisor will provide an overview of the MCB program requirements, career opportunities and the criteria for declaring MCB as a major or minor.

Interested students should attend only one session. All sessions are identical and typically last 1 hour. Meeting location is listed on the sign up form.


Students are invited to attend a Prospective Student Meeting in order to learn whether the major is a good fit. These group meetings are conducted by an academic advisor who will provide information about the program/opportunities in Psychology. All questions will be answered at this meeting. Please stop by the Psychology Advising Office, Room 10 Psychology Building, to sign up for a meeting and to pick up an informational packet.

The Sociology Department is hosting a Fall open house on September 4th: 3-5pm; Room 3057 Lincoln Hall. This is a great oppotunity to meet, greet, and mingle with Current and Prospective Sociology Majors, Faculty, and Meet the New Sociology Head! This is also a chance to learn about upcoming events including the Internship Fair, the Sociology Club, Alpha Kappa Delta (Sociology Honors Society) and more!  All Sociology Students and Prospective students welcome!

If you have been considering a major or minor in Spanish and you would like more information about how and when to declare, the requirements, and how study abroad can be incorporated, you are invited to attend one of these information meetings. Come meet the undergraduate Spanish advisor, Beth Chasco, as she explains the curriculum and answers student questions. In this way you can avoid the long lines at the advising office during peak periods.
*Bring the Intent to Declare a Campus Minor form and a print out of your academic history if you believe you will want to declare a minor at the end of the meeting.
